Report from the Soccer Team

When I wrote in my last report back in March, “The success story seems to get bigger and bigger by the week.” I expressed my confidence in “My Team!” it turned out to be warranted. We then had 3 games left in the season, one of which we had no opponent for. The game on the 14th Mach we won with a healthy 5:0, the week after we had a bye. Our final game ended up to be a real scorcher, which we won with our best result in recent memory of our clubs history, a whopping 9:0.

This seasons goal scorers were: Don (Paul) Donnelli 14, Steven Green 8, Rick Fraccaro 8, Ian Cronin 7, Mampre Papazian 6, Gianni Morongiu 5, Martin Laslet 4, Peter Martin 4, John Green 3, Colin Green 3, Peter Askew 3, Len Sorbara 3, Hansi Verhoef 3, Julio Irribarren 2, Adam Karalus 1. Summing it all up, we had 18 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses with an aggregate of goals in total of 74:32 in our favor! This must be recognized as a dream result.

There is very little more left to be said, as the result speaks for itself.
My gratitude and thanks goes to all the players, who have certainly played their sporting hearts out and with their efforts achieved so much. I am looking forward to see you all again in September 2010 for the new summer season and thank you all for making it so enjoyable.

AC Golden oldies report

Back from our annual trip, this time Surfers Paradise. I am happy to report everything went like clockwork. Even Bondi’s lost wallet was handed into the police station. Saturday night we visited the German Club with a table of 30. Everybody had a great night.

The game was lost 3:6 and the trophy stayed in Surfers. Man of the match was Reszoe who scored twice. It was a good game that was lost in the last 15 minutes.

On Sunday, Wilhelm (Billy), invited the boys over for a BBQ. Thanks Billy and Vera for the great day, hospitality and friendship. It was good to have some time with the Tamandls, Wally and Adi, and to talk about the old days. Thanks Tom for organising the match, even though we had a loss, it was enjoyed by everybody. All in all another great weekend.
